Brrrrr!

Windy 1It seems the cold weather has blown in now and is here to stay for awhile.....brrrrr, it is cold!  We didn't get a lot from Hurricane Sandy, just and lot of wind a rain over the weekend since we only got the outskirts of the storm.  But I've definitely been staying warm with yummy hot cocoa....and sometimes some decaf. coffee, lol.  I've been doing pretty well with my schoolwork and music has kept me very as well.  My music teacher has assigned me four different pieces of music to practice, sigh.  I am also learning to use the foot pedals on the piano too, so that is taking some extra work on my part as it's a little harder to coordinate all that.  I throughly enjoyed the symphony music concert I got to attend with my music teacher.  She and I went to Goldan Corral for supper first....loved it!  Then we went to the concert, so much fun!  I also enjoyed seeing my big brother again, he was home from college on Fall break.  I have been busy shopping for a birthday present for him, his birthday is Nov. 20.  I have finally figured out what I am going to get for him, I think he is going to love it!  Other stuff.....my fat cat Oscar got into my lunch today .  I had made a nice salad for myself, it had Ranch salad dressing on it.  I guess Oscar must like Ranch salad dressing, I had stepped away for a minute only to find him licking the salad dressing Smiley.  Sigh!  Well, sorry this is so short, lol, not much else going on!

A symphony and other excitement!

SmileyHey everyone! I'm still here, just very busy with life around here....schoolwork, music lessons/practice, church, and helping out at home.  Sounds repetitive, but this weekend I will be getting a break from the usual routine around here.  Tomorrow, I will be going with my dad to go pick up my brother from college....he is on Fall break.  I am so excited as I might to get to practice some of my driving, plus I will get to see the college campus as well.....yay Smiley!  And yes, lol, I will be glad to see my big brother too!

Saturday night will be some more excitement for me, something I've never gotten to do before......attend a symphony concert!Free Music SmileysMy piano teacher had an extra ticket for a symphony concert and asked me if I could go.  Mom and dad said it was ok, so I will be getting to go, yay Free Happy Smileys!  She will first take me to dinner with her, then we will go to the concert.  We will be getting to hear Brahms’ First Symphony, opening with three popular melodies taken from larger works, including the famous opening strains of Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and the mystical Overture to Carl Maria von Weber’s Romantic opera Der Freischütz. Also included in the program is the Love Scene from Berlioz’s large-scale “dramatic” symphony, Romeo and Juliet.  I'm soooooo excited, I can hardly wait Smiley!  This is going to be so much fun!

Other excitement around here.......my mom is going to have a baby!Free Baby Smileys  Yes, you read that right, I am going to be a big sister again, wonderful isn't it?!  I am secretly hoping this baby will be a boy, lol, you can't blame since I already have two sisters.  But we'll see.  Right now, my sisters and I have pretty much had to take over things and help out my mom more than usual.  She has been sick some and very tired as well, but she says she will be getting to feeling better pretty soon and have her energy back.  Until then we help out with things like cooking supper.  Last week, on my night, I was making homemade pizza when I got carried away with the flour, lol, it kind of poofed everywhere Free Indifferent Smileys all over me and the counter.  So, it's been an adventure around here, lol!Smiley

Driving time!

Yay, it's driving time!  I got my driver's permit, woo hoo!SmileyI am thrilled to get to drive now, although I am still a bit nervous....and I think my mom is too, lol.  But, so far it's been pretty good.  I have to do a lot of practicing driving with my mom or dad next to me.  Since I have a permit, there certain times of day I can drive (no driving after 9 p.m.) and I can't have any passengers other than one of my parents.  Not a problem for me, I think my sisters would make me more nervous if they were in the car with me.  So, I have passed another milestone in my life, such an exciting time for me!

Schoolwork is going pretty well, of course I am enjoying British literature, lol.  I did not get to register for any college classes as a dual-enrolled student.  The had cut back on a lot of classes I was interested in taking, there was nothing in the Career path I wanted to take....they only had classes for computer, business, animal science, etc.  They do have the Associate degree pathway, but I need good ACT scores and I haven't taken that test yet.  I will be going thru a ACT test prep book for the rest of this semester, then take the placement test at the community college.  Hopefully then I will qualify to take some classes like art, history, or English. Other stuff....piano lessons start back in a couple of weeks, yay!SmileyI really love playing the piano and have been keeping up with practicing some new songs during the summer.  I can hardly wait to get started!

Well, that is all for now, I am tired as I've had a long day of visiting some new friends at a homeschool group.  Have a great day!

School time already?!

animated smileys school 1I can't believe it......it's time for school already.  Where did the summertime go?  Sigh, I think it went by way too fast for me.  I got to enjoy summer camp, 4-H activities, and driver's education.
Now here it is, time for school again.  But I am a little excited because I am starting 11th gradeSmiley!  I only have three high school subjects to do.....Bible, U.S History, and British/American Literature.  I am really going to love that British literature, my favorite!  I will also be getting to register for a couple of college classes for dual enrollment, I'm very excited about that.

Sorry this post is so short, I need to get going with my schoolwork!
