A day off!

Yay!  I have a day off from volunteering today!Happy Smiley  While I do enjoy volunteering, it is nice to have a little break.  This week I worked in the gift shop, switchboard, and physcial therapy.  Working in the gift shop was really fun.  I got to stock the shelves, help customers, and even got to run the cash register, lol...that was pretty cool.  The lady who ran the gift shop also let me have a snack and drink, so I got a package of crackers and a Dr. Pepper, great!  Working the switchboard was kind of slow, I mostly tell people the room number of a patient they want to visit.  But it was worth the boredom because I was given a dessert by one of the workers there (she had changed her mind about eating it, I guess).  It was a chocolate pudding dessert covered in Cool Whip....it was great!Eating Food Smiley

Monday night was fun.....we went to a baseball game to watch a minor league team play.  It was a great!  I bought myself a slice of pizza Edible/Food Smilies and some nachos soaked in cheese sauce.  Being a girl who loves sports, I really enjoyed the game.  But the game was tied by the 9th inning, so they ended up playing 11 innings til the other team finally won the game.  It was really late when we got home from the game but, even though I was tired, I had a great time!

As for me, I am spending my day off listening to music Happy Smiley and reading a book by Toilken.....sigh, it's nice to relax!

A busy week!

SmileyFirst of all, I want to wish my little sister, Puppyprincess, a Happy Birthday! She will be 11 years old tomorrow.....so have a fun day sis! As for me, I had a busy week with volunteering at the hospital. I worked in admissions, switchboard, and radiology during the afternoons. This Monday, I will do my first morning time slot where I will have to be there from 8-12. I will be working in the gift shop this time and I am definitely looking forward to thisSmiley.  I have not worked in this department before, not even last summer, so I think this should be fun for me. For now, I am having a relaxing weekend watching one of my favorite movies.....Lord of the Rings.  Here is my favorite sceneFree Love Smileys:

Volunteering, blueberries, and a new Duggar grandson!

SmileyWoo hoo, I got chosen to be a Junior Volunteer at the hospital this summer!  I am really excited I get to do this again!  So, for the next three weeks I am going to be real busy with volunteering and loving every bit of it.  How do you like my Yahoo avatar on the right side of my blog?  I dressed myself in the uniform that we junior volunteers have to wear....a red uniform shirt and khaki skirt or pants.  Since I don't wear pants I will be wearing my khaki skirt just like I did last summer, it's very easy to be modest and volunteer at the same time.Smiley

Anyway, yesterday was orientation for us volunteers.  We went over the same stuff from last summer....various rules about patient privacy and germ protection.  We also had to get a TB test done since we can't volunteer in a hospital if we're sick with anything like that.  I go back on Friday for them to check the spot where I got the TB test.  We then got our pictures taken for our photo ID card and also got our uniforms.  After that we were done and my mom took me to lunch at Subway.  I got a six-inch sub with pepperoni, provolone cheese, lettuce, and honey mustard sauce, along with a drink and a bag of BBQ chips....it was great!free smiley emoticon

My mom got me signed up for a 4-H class I will be taking in July.  It's called "Keeping the Memories" and is a scrapbooking class.  We have to bring pictures to make a scrapbook with, so I will be bringing all the pictures I have of my cats Max and Oscar, lol.  I will also bring some pictures of me holding my cats.  It will be a kitty cat scrapbook, lol!  I am also signed up for a day camp in July too, it's called Career Camp.  It's a half-day day camp in which we will be visiting and looking at different types of careers each day.  I look forward to the one they will do on education careers since I am currently interested in early childhood....along with a couple of other interests, lol.

I am going to be entering a blueberry contest this weekend, so I will be busy today making a blueberry desert.  I am making a blueberry cake with Cool Whip on it, topped with more blueberries.  Sigh, I love blueberries so much!  Hopefully I will be able to keep from eating the blueberries while I make the cake, lol!

One last thing.....the Duggars have a new grandson born yesterday, here he is:

Isn't that baby boy soooo cute!  I love to watch the Duggars every Tuesday night, it makes for a decent
show to watch on TV without worrying about bad language or behavior.  Smiley

Got to get busy with my blueberry cake now, see you later!

On summer break!

Undergound  Ok, I am positively meltin here on my summer break.  Our weather has been in the 90's lately with no rain in sight, so my morning glories are suffering a little bit.  But inspite of the heat I am enjoying my break from school.  We had a nice time at my brother's graduation from homeschool and I had a great time at the book fair.  I bought a book of Shakespeare plays, I just love Shakespeare....yes, I know, I'm weird, lol!Smiley  I also bought the Narnia books on audio CDs, yay!  I then came across the most wonderful stuff, lol.....I found a booth that had all things "Lord of the Rings", woo hoo!  I ended up buying "The Silmarillion” by Tolkien and an art book of all the drawings found in the Lord of the Ring trilogy.  They also had "Literary Lessons from Lord of the Rings", a literature/composition/vocabulary curriculum.  I had my mom look thru it and asked if I could use this instead of SOS for my language arts this Fall.  She said yes, but she also bought me something different for grammar as well.  Woo hoo again!SmileyI am thrilled, lol.  I think language arts will be more fun this Fun...or at least as fun as it can get, lol.

I have not been doing too much else during my break as I am still waiting to be called for my interview about being a Junior Volunteer at the hospital.  There are so many teens wanting to be volunteers but they don't have enough spots to fill.  So, they are having interviews to help them pick which teens get to be Junior Volunteers this summer.  I got to do this last summer and had a lot of fun (specially when I helped in the hospital cafeteria, lol).  For now, I have been spending my time reading, playing computer games, cooking, and playing with my cats. Speaking of cooking, I made ton of potato salad today, it tastes great.  I am taking it to our family reunion tomorrow where there will be lots more food....it will be fun!

Have a nice day!
