True character!

hot chocolateOk, I am officially frozen, lol!  It has been sooooo cold here lately, cold enough to snow, but snowflakes have yet to fall around here Sad sad 051 .  Yes, I love snow, I could play in it all day, lol.  So, I am still praying for snow.....not a blizzard, lol, but just enough to enjoy.

It was so exciting to see the Broncos make it to the Playoffs, Tebow is an awesome quarterback.  However, it was not meant to be as the Patriots just stomped all over themSmiley.  Still, I am very proud of Tebow's testimony and character....even in the face of playing through injuries during the game as a result of getting sacked hard by Vince Wilfork and Rob Ninkovich.  But even after such a huge defeat, Tebow showed what was really important in life.  Here is what he said after the game:

"It still wasn't a bad day," Tebow said after the game. "It still was a good day, because I got to spend some time before the game with Zack McLeod [a 20-year-old Cambridge native who suffered a traumatic brain injury playing football] and make him smile, and overall when you get to do that, it's still a positive day. Sometimes that's hard to see, but it depends what lens you're looking through. I choose to look through those lenses, and I got to make a kid's day, that's more important than winning the game. So, I am proud of that."

What a great testimony!Smiley  Giving of his time to others is way more important than a football game, a true testament of his Christian character.  And, I think, this is how it should be in our lives as Christians.....giving to others!

Back to regular programming!

After a nice Christmas break I am finally back to my usual program of schoolwork, piano lessons, and piano practice.  For Christmas, I got a California Angels shirt with Pujols name on it, along with a World Series video, perfume/shower gel from my brother, a suncatcher to paint, piano music of "Lord of the Rings" movies, and assorted candy and Trident gum.  Another blessing I got for Christmas is that I didn't get sick at all Smiley, yay!  The past two Christmases I had gotten sick with the cold and the flu, so it was great to be sick-free this time and get to enjoy Christmas.  Schoolwork has been alright, Geometry looks like it will be easier on my brain than Algebra, lol.  Biology is better for now, the Pace I am in right now is on plants....the previous Pace was about tapeworms and parasites, ick Smiley!  Piano is going to be even more fun since I got a piano book that has music from the "Lord of the Rings" movies.  It is an easier version of the music and I have been able play some of it already.  I love it!Smiley

That's it for now, time to run to the library!

Peppermint sticks

Process 4 cups ice cream, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup crushed candies in a blender until smooth, (process peppermint candies in a food processor for quick crushing).  Stop to scrape down sides as needed.  Pour into small serving glasses; top with whipped cream, and place a peppermint sick in each glass.  Repeat with remaining ingredients.  Yield: 9 1/4 cups

Christmas break!

SmileyYay, we're on Christmas break, woo hoo!  And I'm all done with Algebra, woo hoo again!  I am so thrilled to be done with Algebra, I don't think I want to see that subject again.  I will be starting Geometry next semester, it should be easier....at least I hope it is.

I was done early with schoolwork today since I worked ahead in my Switched on Schoolhouse work yesterday.  I also finished math early as well as my Biology Pace...no need in starting a new Pace with breaktime upon us.  So, I only had a lesson to do in "Literary Lessons from LOTR" and that was it.  Yesterday was nice because I got to read a Shakespeare play..."Macbeth".  Yes, it's depressing, but it is also full of intrigue and eventually ends well with the right man becoming king.  My mom has found it online, so I will probably be watching it soon.

Now that we're on break, I will be going Christmas present shopping tonight with my mom and sisters.  We're pretty sure what we're getting for my dad, but we'll just have to shop around and see what will be nice for our brother.  After we're done, we will all stop by Burger King and get some free french fries they are giving out today....yay!Smiley

Have a great weekend!
